We are proud to announce BANYAI Arts Education is relaunching and presenting its popular two-day professional development workshops offering a diverse range of skills, techniques, and styles suitable for teaching both at the primary and secondary levels.
Teachers have turned to the BANYAI Arts Education Professional Development workshops to enrich their experience, broaden their skills and open their minds to new styles and theatre approaches. We provide you with key skills for both performing & teaching physical theatre, improvisation, comedy, staging, character interpretation and development, voice, movement, solo work and ensemble work.

DAY 1: THE STOCK CHARACTERS OF COMMEDIA DELL ARTE
This most popular, fun packed specialised workshop is a great introduction to Commedia or a brilliant refresher for experienced practitioners.
Participants will actively explore how to bring a variety of stock characters without masks through text based interpretation and the use of key commedia conventions such as lazzi, concetti and actor-audience relationship.
Participate in this highly energetic and physical workshop through a hands-on investigation of the main stock characters of Commedia Dell Arte.

DAY 1: STANISLAVSKY’S ACTING SYSTEM
This intensive workshop provides participants with an essential foundation of Stanislavsky’s acting system. Participants will work through a practical exploration and process of creating, interpreting and performing character.
Areas covered include key acting techniques and skills such as Action, the Magic If, Objectives, Verbal and Non-verbal modes of communication to assist in creating, interpreting characters and developing performing scene work.

DAY 2: MEYERHOLD’S BIOMECHANICS
Our popular workshop gives participants the opportunity to explore one of the giants of modern theatre, Vsevolod Meyerhold, and his principles of a ‘new theatre’ that came to include his now famous biomechanics.
Areas covered include a practical introduction to actor training via the use of Biomechanics and Etudes for solo, partner and ensemble work focusing on character and scene interpretation, rehearsal and performance.

DAY 2: INTRODUCTION TO KABUKI PERFORMANCE
This innovative workshop explores Kabuki performance conventions through a practical exploration and understanding of Japanese performance and culture. Included in this workshop are Kabuki character performance demonstrations by Goran Banyai.
Learn key characters through a series of kata sequences that will provide you with the skills of making and performing this traditional theatre, as well as practical techniques for making, interpreting and presenting modern theatre.
